About The Artwork

A colorful painting of a ballerina, her struggle and accolades. A city scape in the background depicting the crowd, while the ballerina takes the stage. This painting is very dear to me. It is a real life story of a ballerina. The work is inspired by Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani and Soutine. Style is neo-cubism

"It does not matter what you see, it matters how you see it." -Shourabh Mukherji aka TheModernCubist Shourabh Mukherji is a New Jersey based Contemporary Cubist painter and Board Member at the Center for Contemporary Arts. A self-taught artist whose works are inspired by masters such as Pablo Picasso, FN Souza and MF Hussain. The theme of the artist's work is to evoke vivid, raw and unadulterated emotions. It would be prudent to say that the artist speaks a language of eroticism, a much tantric vibe and one that is primal. Yes, there are no filters for "social adjustments" in the artist's manifestations. The deep emotions of desire and pleasures transcend the casual norms into a more spiritual transcendence through his art. The man and woman become equal participants in the amorous relationship. As Picasso would say- "All you can imagine is real", so are these art forms thus molding themselves and evolving higher realms of passion. The highlights in the artist's creations are distinct line work in black and use of bold colors- with minimal or no mixing. The style is a culmination of Geometric and Figurative Abstraction. The Artist has coined the term "Sculptural Cubism". A derivative of neo-Cubism style in red. Most of Shourabh's art is sold to private collectors in US and abroad. Shourabh has exhibit his work in solo and group exhibits in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. His paintings have appeared in Art Magazines in NYC and LA.
