The choice is made - and sometimes there is no going back. Service and devotion means just that. Series "Not Free" Reflections on human freedom. Why is freedom, this ephemeral thing, so important that you can lay down your life for it? What binds us in general: fences or our conscience, beliefs, ignorance? Is it possible to become absolutely free and is it really necessary? In our opinion, in the modern world with all its high technologies and artificial intelligence, there is a process of rethinking the existing and creating a new ethics with which humanity will live in the near future. In fact, this is a repetition of medieval disputes about God, man and soul, but on a new level. This new level is higher and more difficult: it is about humanism, freedom, animal rights and artificial intelligence. A very interesting historical moment in which we happened to live. Visually, the style of the series combines medieval wood painting, so common in Abruzzo, and Russian parsuna. In a sense, this is an allusion to the icon - in our human-oriented world, the focus is no longer on God, as in the Middle Ages, but on a person, his feelings and experiences. The place of the Creator was taken by man. Iron and wood are a contrast between the cold and the hard, the stern, the cruel with the lively and warm. This contrast is very characteristic of today, when conflicts are escalating around, empires are collapsing, the rigid old consciousness is changing with gnashing and resistance.

We are the Pavlovsky family: mathematically trained metal designer Alexander, artist and art historian (as well as poet and journalist) Nikita/Onda, and graphic designer and illustrator Anastasia. Dad, son and mom. We decided to work as a group in January 2020. We like to discuss and compare ideas, we are interested in creating contact with each other! We have a background of different creative specialties and we believe that this difference, if well understood, gives an interesting and unique result. We create paintings, panels and objects at the intersection of art and craft design entirely by hand. We are close to the concept of mutual creativity of man, nature and time. Therefore, we usually use materials with a history: old industrial metal, recycled quartz and glass, old wood. We strive to preserve and reveal the beauty of materials with traces of time.. We are trying to combine formal and conceptual elements, the connection between philosophy and technique/material is important to us. Our works "slow down" the viewer, giving him the necessary pause for reflection and sensory perception. This interweaving of meaning and feeling is our way of communicating with the viewer. We talk about the problems of the modern world in the language of handicraft technologies and handwork. Since the spring of 2022 we have been living in Italy, in Abruzzo, which we have known and loved for many years and here we create our works.
