ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A collector of experiences perched momentarily on the edge of human constructs. I see the birch trees as symbols of resilience, growing in a row like sentinels guarding the secrets within the walls. The red spill on the ledge, vivid and almost intrusive, serves as a reminder of the unexpected and often disruptive pulse of life. It's a visual interruption, much like the woodpecker itself—a disruption to the stillness of the scene. I hope viewers will find a moment of introspection here. Perhaps they will see the woodpecker as a symbol of the wild that exists at the fringes of our orderly lives. Maybe they will feel the jolt of red as a call to acknowledge the often overlooked vibrancy that exists just beneath the surface of the everyday. Through this painting, I'm inviting you to contemplate the delicate balance between our structured existences and the untamed world that surrounds us.

Glenn M. Skibsted is a contemporary artist who works in oil. He has had several exhibitions both internationally and his home country, Norway. "Human nature, light and environment are the basis of my work. Portrayed in scenes of everyday life where thinking, feeling and acting is something that naturally bonds us all. The aim is to recall, reveal and make available essential emotions and traits that often can be left to fade away. Whether they come from our ethnological background or whether they have been shaped by environmental/surrounding influences they all are elements of human nature, defining our choices, impulses. The final result of my research is aimed to challenge the viewer both esthetically and emotionally. As a reference to something that "Le Corbusier" once said - I want my work to be a thought that reveals itself without word or sound, but solely by means of shapes, which stand in a certain relationship to one another. I would like to plant a seed. The rest is up to you."
