About The Artwork

"The Descent" is one of a few pieces within the Rage series that was created listening to one specific album. I wanted to see what I could create while listening to one musician. The aggressive strokes of purple divided by a simply defined background of yellow shows the descent human beings take everyday in their lives. The torn nature we all have between our overall morale values of good and evil. Wire hung backing is installed. Be careful with burned areas as they can break.

I don’t like rules and I definitely don’t like expectations other people make of me. Abstract art gives me the sense of freedom and adventure I thrive for. There are many artists who have influenced me throughout my over 10 years of experience. I was inspired by artists I read about, such as Jackson Pollock, while attending Buffalo State University, where I obtained my Bachelor’s degrees in Art History and Fine Arts, and my professor, David Higgins who taught and motivated me to push my artistic abilities. I have always enjoyed learning new forms of fine art and craft and love expanding my experience in the workplace as well. Working at places such as Burchfield Penney Art Center, 464 Gallery, and Corning Museum of Glass gave me unique experiences. I always want art and creating it to be fun, memorable, and risky. My process is the embodiment of this. I enjoy creating! I create from what I’m feeling and experiencing; then I push it past that point and attempt to destroy it. I want to evoke in-depth thoughts and strong feelings with my art, but I want them to be your own feelings. If you loathe a piece, imagine chucking it out a 20 story window; and if you love one, dream of owning it, waking up every morning feeling like there is magic and love around you.
