Painting of Martha, a 17yr old girl with her best friend and confidante. The contemporary teenager is often seen hugging their friends and we have moved on from the polite just so greetings that I grew up with. I am inspired by them and feel that we should all show more affection and energy towards each other in a more European way. Mental Health awareness is popular and sometimes a hug can help.

I am a Fire fighter and I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the U.K in the Peak District.I have recently started to paint in oils and my passion is people in scenes,or moments in life that are pleasing to me. I am a mother of two boys and one girl and I love studying them and other friends for paintings. I am inspired by the traditional Dutch painters and am applying the style to contemporary themes. I am known as my maiden name Nicola Richardson in the Art world as I originally started doing watercolours of animal portraits to earn my daily bread. I trained as fire Fighter in my 30's as I was wanted to challenge myself physically and liked the idea of helping others.This now allows me to paint exactly what I like.
