About The Artwork
This piece is a focus on the Renaissance painting "The Four Apostles" (Right) by Albrecht Dürer (1526). I used metallic gold in the piece as a reference to illuminated manuscripts and the religious symbolism of divinity. piece as a reference to illuminated manuscripts and the religious symbolism of divinity. Dürer focus more on the color white in reference to purity for this piece and as such, I went with a light subdued green for the primary composition. The same color is used in the shading of St. Paul's robe/cloak on the original piece. This green compliments the intense red of the left panel piece as well as providing a sense of the tranquility and peace Christians associate with Heaven. The painting is on 140lb cold pressed Arches watercolor paper and I used Golden acrylics. Arrives ready to hang in a white float mat and a black wooden box frame. All materials are archival to extend the longevity of the piece.
