About The Artwork

Once upon a time, there was a girl with a peculiar love for cacti. She found solace in their sharp exterior, believing that just like her, they were tough on the outside but gentle on the inside. Little did she know that her romantic relationships would bear a striking resemblance to her prickly green companions. Our girl found herself trapped in a toxic relationship that she couldn't seem to break free from. It was as if she had become entangled in a web of thorns that held her captive. The more she struggled, the deeper she got ensnared. She knew deep down that this relationship was unhealthy. It drained her energy, leaving her feeling wilted and unhappy. But for some reason, she couldn't bring herself to let go. Just like a cactus clinging to life in the desert, she clung onto hope that things would eventually change. Her friends tried to intervene, but she remained stubbornly loyal. "He's not all bad," she would say with a sigh. "Underneath the prickles, there's a tender soul." And so, she continued to water the relationship, hoping it would bloom into something beautiful. But alas, her efforts were in vain. Toxicity seeped through the veins of their love, poisoning any chance of growth. It became a vicious cycle of pain and forgiveness, leaving her emotionally battered and bruised. As outsiders, we may wonder why she didn't just walk away. But love is a funny thing, my friends. It blinds us, and sometimes, it renders us unable to see clearly. We find ourselves trapped between what we want and what we know we deserve. So, let's not judge this girl with cactus too harshly. Instead, let's offer her our support and remind her of her own strength. Eventually, she will find the courage to break free from the thorny grip and embrace a love that nurtures her soul. Remember, dear readers, sometimes we all have a cactus in our lives. The key is to recognize when it's time to let go and make room for the flowers to bloom.

My name is Mokhinur Fakhriddinova from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. What I would like to express through my work is very simple. I am trying to bring out strangeness from familiarity (visual habit). Everything there is out there in this world, more or less, provides familiar vision. This familiar vision can be replaced as habit. This habitual vision which every object gives us and creates comfort. However it shuts down all the other possibilities. The habitual vision or visual habit makes us go by the routine ways. It stops us from having adventure and checking out the wonders out there. My work is trying to destroy, tear up, and reconstruct this habitual vision so that our vision can be expended to other images. I have strong faith in my work that my personal behaviour may lead us “strangeness within habitual vision off from the track."
