About The Artwork
The great wave off Kanagawa is one of Hokusai’s finest works and possibly the single most famous image in all oriental art. When I visited Hokusai's exhibition at National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne in 2017, I had the privilege to see the complete series of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji 1826 - 33. Impressed by The Great Wave of Kanagawa, I attempted to duplicate the scene with acrylic paint. The process was slow, but the outcome was fairly satisfactory. I would like to show off my craftsmanship here and now.
