This painting was completed plein air in one session on the cliff edge in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The area is designated for military use and is only open to the public at certain limited times of the year. The rugged rock formations combine with the crashing waves and calling seabirds to make this place a sensory sensation. The sun casts strong shadows across the textures on the rock face. It is essential to work quickly as the light slowly shifts changing the whole scene.

I began my art education at Foundation at Wirral College of Art, followed by a Fine art degree at Nottingham Trent University. During my working life I have usually had a brush or pen in my hand. I was a Paint & Trace artist in the Animation industry in London before my interest in ceramics led me to set-up a ceramic tile business with my wife, producing hand-painted tiles( Reptile). I have devoted more time to painting over the last 5 years, mostly landscape painted plein air, but also the figure.
