I like trivial topics that we can see every day on the street. True stories of everyday people painted in a realistic manner really draw attention to the painting itself. All viewers have different idea about the elderly man, everybody comes up with a different story. In reality the man was sleeping in a terrace of a restaurant after finishing his huge lunch at the seaside in Hastings. It is comic and slightly grotesque but still real.
