About The Artwork

The Human Story in an unprecedented art collection that captures the evolution of life, so that you can find your place in it. They are a visceral image of hope, in a chaotic world desperate for direction and harmony. These paintings provide a powerful storytelling tool for us to reimagine what it means to be truly human, and recreate a world that works for all. These 10 individual panels are vast in scope and size. Starting from the Big Bang (Human Story 1 – 100 x 100 cm), Through five distinct revolutions of human growth and worldview (Human Story 2-6 – 110 x 110 cm to 160 x 160 cm), to where we are now (Human Story 7 – 170 x 170 cm), to three possible human futures (Human Story 8-10 – 180 x 180 cm to 190 x 190 cm). Each painting is both a window and a mirror. In contemplating each painting, you reflect on your own unique stages of growth through life, work, and culture, and see your own story interwoven in the vast reaches of these meta narratives, the cultural programs that run our lives. As a window, they provide unique insight into the worldviews of those around us. Each of these paintings is a range of possibility, a set of rose- (or red- or orange-) tinted spectacles that we wear but are unaware of. By making ourselves aware of these deep layers of programming, we can find new life and new possibilities inside us. These paintings tell the story of how that is possible, and how this means integrating our past, before we leap forward together into a new future. In short, these paintings point to the powerful possibility of re-making the future together. The only way out, is in. We need to collectively question where are we seeing from, as well as what we are looking at. We need to see where we are creating from, and what we are creating. Perhaps it is the map maker in me, but I have been fascinated by models of reality for as long as I can remember. In an attempt to verify these patterns, I began to look deeply into five major areas of research. Already fascinated by personality typing, I researched into psychology and psychoanalysis, including Carl Jung’s writings. Following this I explored various energy systems including chi gung, pranic healing and the Eastern chakra systems. Through the avenue of contemplative prayer and meditation, I began to expand my awareness of more levels and states of consciousness. My philosophical lens has been widened and deepened by profound conversations with mystics and futurists such as Barbara Marx Hubbard, Marc Gafni and Jeff Carreira. This culminated in a deep fascination with Integral Theory and the writings of Ken Wilber, which seems to elegantly sum up the greatest amount of things in the universe in the least amount of patterns (known as the AQAL matrix). The sum total of my understanding, translated into my artistic process, has then been tried and tested with global visionaries, entrepreneurs, and leaders. The resulting paintings have been used to facilitate discussion with interdisciplinary think tanks as well as the United Nations and World Economic Forum. These artworks have also facilitated conversations about the future of consciousness and technology, within multinational corporations such as Microsoft. I became convinced that we need a Copernican revolution in how we see ourselves and our world – we need it before this lie of separation devours us and irreplaceably destroys the biosphere that we all are so interwoven with. These ten paintings are not just a synthesis of information. They are the defining of an aesthetic, and an expanding model of evolving reality that, when you learn to look for it, can have an incredible impact on how you see yourself and how you operate in this world.

Louis Parsons has devoted his life and artwork to exploring the mystery and beauty of human potential. This devotion led him to pioneer a new form of commissioned art called SoulScaping, which celebrates the unique essence of an individual, partnership or family. These paintings are an exceptional kind of self-portraiture, capturing the inner dimensions of a person or couple rather than the physical. Louis has been the Guest Artist at the Four Seasons, Kuda Huraa in the Maldives for the past 6 years. In 2017 he will be Guest Artist at Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives and Four Seasons, Serengeti. Louis also uses art to host workshops or commission paintings for businesses to help them visualise future goals and objectives and unleash the creative energy that lives within them and their company. His VisionScaping has been used with Mars, Ebay, Microsoft, PLC, RBS and many more. One of his most encouraging moments was when one of his SoulScapes raised £120,000 at auction for charity. When he's not painting Louis loves to surf and spend time with his wife and children.
