About The Artwork

These are the first inhabitants of this solar system who had grown and formed from the rock, who brought with them through their life marvels of unparalleled grandeur to the adolescent planet. It is their civilization that has brought meaning to this world. They have built, prospered, and achieved advances in science and cognitive abilities that now towers over the handful of other existences throughout the galaxy. They are of this system, they have watched it grow along with their own awakening, and because of this they will not surrender their caring home. The foreign invaders who threaten their existence will not be met without resistance. The inhabitants have risen up in defense of their planet, of their civilization. They have congregated in masses to meet the foreign invasion. Their ranks will stand and fight for what has always been inherently theirs. A stance of defiance now they will hold awaiting the trials to come, awaiting the horrors and mystery that will be their struggle for survival. And yet here they will stand planted firmly onto the translucent surface of their home. Amid the flowing river they center themselves for the tribulations and suffering cutting across the horizon. All the while they will stand in a peaceful, unmoving trance ready to wage war for the home that they will not let go. http://andrewjetterart.com/exhibitions/interpretation/#_inhabitants

I’ve always had a scientific-oriented mind. Painting, ⟨and creating, more generally⟩ provides both an outlet for me to express my scientific side and a method of experimentation. I construct vast landscapes to delve into that feature grand themes including ∋ ⟨fundamental dualities | knowledge horizons | natural and artificial juxtapositions ⟨as well their superpositions⟩ | and the illusion of dimensional scale |. A compulsion to explore leads me to new ⟨places⟩⟨i⟩ to observe | condense information | make intuitive | and conceptualize new horizons⟩. Being from Albuquerque, I naturally draw inspiration from our mind-blowing skies that contrast so vividly with the raw, Earth tones of our environment – all of which is part of the Σ⟨the decaying infrastructure of thin stucco⟩ + ⟨the ever-present dust⟩ ⋅ ⟨our diverse culture that shapes it⟩. From this source material I create worlds flirting with the edge of reality. Believable places, but with an unsettling undertone of impossibility that invites the viewer to analyze . . . | indefinitely |²
