Originally from Kharkov, Ukraine, Julia began painting at age 3. After graduating in 2014 from the Kharkov University School of Urban Economy, she continued to pursue her interest in art. Currently she is experimenting with different genres including classic, abstract, naïve, and figurative drawing using multiple media, e.g, watercolor, acrylic, ink, etc. Fond of travelling, one of her favorite places is Crimea. There she finds inspiration in the beautiful land and seascape of the peninsula. Her first commercial effort was painting scenes on beach pebbles and selling them to locals and tourists. She found love in Crimea and married there in 2015. Consequently, she now spends most of her time in Crimea where she continues to study art at the private studio “Faza”, attends workshops hosted by accomplished local artists such as Alexander Votsmush, and participates in solo and group exhibitions. Julia considers Dutch artist Van Gogh as a major influence and after a visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam she became inspired to create a series she titles “If Van Gogh Lived in Crimea”. In these paintings she applies an imaginative approach using a Van Gogh theme, depicting Crimean landscapes with impressionist style mixing Van Gogh works in time and space. Of late she has achieved international notice and her works have made their way to private collections in Ukraine, Russia, United States and the U.K. https://www.instagram.com/jul_i_van https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAUpSostDzU7u9DBQ_5W0nA
