ABOUT THE ARTWORK
It was originally a study for a copy of the Charles II portrait by John Michael Wright. It was great fun and a pleasure to paint a wig and a robe. To break the central composition I set the figure of the king to the side. The graffitti background was not intended. The spilled paint suggested an interesting set of colors (black and blue) and the inscription gives the portrait of the monarch a funny and ambiguous character. Painting is made on wooden panel , primed witch oil gesso. Varnished.

I was born in 1979 on the plains of Wielkopolska. I studied Garden Design at the University of Life Sciences in Poznan. I discovered the passion for painting late. Long-time fascinated by great masters, I try to find a match between academism and modernity. In painting, I am attracted the most to improvisation, a story that follows the brush strokes.
