The Landlady Painting

I began life in Piracicaba, Brazil in 1976 where I was born to an artist mother and an engineer father with a wanderlust. As a child, I lived in many an exotic land such as the myriad of color that is Brazil, the sun-drenched plains of Kenya, the lush velds of Zimbabwe, the stark but beautiful desserts of the Middle East and the historic cities of England. I moved to the United States, when I was sixteen where I have resided, ever since, taking in the vastness and stunning beauty of the vistas from Maryland to California and revelling in the rush of emotion that is daily life in Manhattan.

While I have had no formal training in the fine arts, my mother and my life, which has been very colorful, have had a profound effect on my psychi where I often feel compelled to express my emotions on paper or canvas. My inspiration has come largely from my separation from my family (ever since I was sixteen, a parental divide that never resolved)which has permanently installed a dormant knot of emotion in me that surfaces from time to time and memories of sights witnessed as a child and, more recently, my life in Manhattan and Upstate New York. I have always sketched and only recently have I begun oil-painting on a more regular basis.
