The Lewis chessmen or Uig chessmen, named after the bay where they were found, are a group of distinctive 12th-century chess pieces, along with other gaming pieces, most of which are carved in walrus ivory. Wikipedia The Lewis chessman are a group of chess pieces, hand carved from walrus ivory. They were carved in the 12th century, and are house in the British Museum. Despite how old they are, I think they look like modern South Park characters, and they amuse me. This painting is acrylic and oil on gallery-profile canvas, wired and ready to hang.

Brian was born and raised in Boston. Brian moved to Chicago after college to work at Leo Burnett, one of the largest ad agencies in the world. Brian left Burnett to get an MBA at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and then moved to NYC and became the Director of Retail Marketing and Advertising for Polo Ralph Lauren. Brian loved Polo and NYC, but he was eager to try something different, so he moved to Nashville to write music. He had many songs recorded, had songs featured in TV shows and movies, but he stopped writing as soon as he realized that he got more creative satisfaction from painting than music. Brian's art is in galleries around the country, and: - is on display at many of the country's leading hospitals - has decorated the sets of several tv shows and movies - has been featured in the New York Times - hangs on the wall of several hotels and clothing stores - has been printed on wrapping paper, wallpaper, greeting cards, fabric, etc. - is in the private collection of several Emmy and Grammy winners, and Tony nominees Brian died in his adopted hometown of Nashville, Tennessee in May 2020. His family and friends miss him greatly, but Brian's memory lives on in his brilliant art. We hope you enjoy experiencing Brian's paintings as much as he enjoyed creating them.
