This is an original acrylic and glitter painting of my cat Hugo ( R.I.P. 2013). I adopted him from my cat vet back in 2001. He had a very sad back story. A breeder of cats was in a serious car accident and her friend had to find homes for her cats. Hugo was given to my cat vet and she decided to keep him as an office cat. Hugo started urinating in the office. He ruined some valuable medical books. I met Hugo when I brought in a rescue cat I found in the alley of the apartment I was then living in. The moment I first laid eyes on Hugo I feel in love. Hugo leapt on the counter as I was trying to pay the bill from the rescue cat ( whom I ended up keeping). He immediately flipped over on his belly on the narrow counter and wanted me to pet him. A week later, I brought back my rescue cat for a follow up and was in the waiting room. I asked where Hugo was, the receptionist said "oh he is in the back". I called out his name and he came running and jumped into my arms". That was it. The Vet laughed when I told her I wanted to adopt Hugo. She said "get in line" followed quickly with " he sprays everywhere". I didn't care. I decided he was going toe my cat and visualized him with me. Two weeks later out of the blue, the Vet called me asking if I was still interested in adopting him. He didn't spray when I adopted him. He was lonely at night at the Cat Vet which is why he sprayed. I had 12 glorious years full of pure love with Hugo. He was my soulmate. Because I coated this painting with glitter, it sparkles in the light. This painting was also featured in art gallery in an art show about animals in 2008. I have signed the front and back and it has a wire hanger in the back. Unframed. The spirit of this painting is all about love.

Born USA. I started making art at the age of 21. I was admitted on the spot to the San Francisco Art Institute upon showing the Dean of Admissions my portfolio of Thurberesque Drawings with funny captions. Much of my artistic inspiration from my flea market finds ( vintage & rare ephemera), my huge unusual vintage, children's book collection, dance & burlesque performances, icons, symbols and images from all kinds of religions and my exploration into personal relationships. Although I have a distinctive style, I have explored many mediums- collage, painting, drawing, print making & fabric design, digital art. Some of my work is pretty and decorative but I also create ugly & raw paintings. These self therapy paintings are meant to be ugly and humourous . Kitsch, fashion, phtography, film, Children's art, German expressionism, Matisse, Dufy, Nolde, Redon as well as unknown outsider & folk+ art brut artists are have contributed to my style. My new website May 2022 www.katiepfeiffer.gallery As of February 2013, I have published my first children's ebook LULU LOOKS FOR LOVE which is available on Amazon.
