About The Artwork

Although contemporary in its imagery approach, this painting was dotted entirely, using a derivation of the impressionist style to achieve the results. Why do something so big and stippled? Why not? The colours and design are calm when viewed from afar. Still, you see an underlying rhythm, a different kind of pulse when you get close to it, and you can make out the overlapping dots. If you'd like everything this work offers, please place it in a large, bright room. It will fit into any décor, from classic to super contemporary. The subject follows Alice in Wonderland as my ongoing body of work; this time, the Mad Hatter because there is a bit of madness in this particular series. It also represents some aspects of my personality: calm and easygoing outside but full of imagination and life, you realise if you know me well. Ah, and lots of patience.

ANNE LOPES (born 1966 in Mirassol, Brazil) Since 2018, I have lived and worked in Auckland, New Zealand. I graduated in Law, but I never identified a single particle in me that would make me pursue this career. As soon as my eldest daughter was born in 1990, I started to seek knowledge in painting and visual arts in general, participating in several courses with private teachers and also in schools and universities. My works began to be recognized, and at that time, I established partnerships with several art galleries in Brazil as a professional artist. Soon after, I founded my art gallery, a reason that took me away from painting in 2011. This period of intense studies to better understand contemporary visual art is one of the things that interests me the most. However, I am so passionate about making and creating art myself that I found a way to reconcile the two works. Subjects that interest me today are human conscience and its relations with our planet and my own personal issues, such as my health.
