About The Artwork
This oversized work is layered with symbol and story. The artist feels all life forms seen and unseen. Change the lighting and explore the new hidden dimensions as different layers of colour and texture are revealed. When I stop to really look at and feel a space, inevitably I see shapes/beings emerge. Like playing with cloud shapes as they shift, beings present themselves to me through shapes and spaces. Almost as if the spaces or shapes want to play with me so I create characters out of them so they can come alive in this physical earthly realm. Playing in this total presence invites the beings to emerge and manifest into the physical realm. Shadows and shapes are never simply light and dark projections to me. If I allow myself to play, the shapes fly though my imagination till I feel and see their energy and allow their form to evolve on the canvas or in my mind. They are always present when I am present and yet they are not there when I am not. They are graceful, playful and beautiful. They make me smile and want to play. They are not disturbing or distracting.

ADRIENNE GABRIEL is a contemporary abstract artist who has lived, worked, exhibited and sold in Los Angeles, Sydney, South Africa and Europe. Growing up in a family of prolific artists, filmmakers, interior designers and production designers, exposed her to all aspects of creative expression and inspired her to create both large scale and more intimate works Her multi-layered mixed medium works are unique and invite the viewer to explore deeper into less visually apparent worlds. Her Australian body of work predominantly focused on copper and acid paintings. She became fascinated with creating brushstrokes unseen until some time later when the Verdigris develops and becomes visible. "This approach requires a lot of trust that the flow and rhythm of my brushstrokes develop into what I feel they will look like. Unpredictability and chance are as much a part of this moment as the anticipated artistic approach. It's like staring at something the eye is not trained to see, until it is."
