About The Artwork
"Mother of the Homeland" painting tells the story of the monument standing in Kyiv, which was installed back in Soviet times. However, there is currently much controversy surrounding its presence there. Therefore, in this piece, I aimed to completely depart from defining the monument and instead convey the image of the woman it represents. A regular woman, returning exhausted after work to her Soviet apartment. By using such a satirical image, I bring back a sense of reality and provide the monument with a greater realism within the context of life.
