In this vibrant celebration of colour, I've captured the ephemeral essence of summer through expressive brushwork and palette knife painting. Melding impressionism with semi-abstraction the painting has the essence of Summer where light dances and foliage whispers through the trees. With acrylics as my medium, I invite viewers into an immersive haven, echoing with the serene yet lively spirit of the season expressed in tones of turquoise, blue and green. This piece is a dynamic infusion of vitality, destined to breathe life and energy into any space it inhabits. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.

Working from observation of nature Amanda gathers visual information with a sketchbook or camera and often begins a canvas en plein air, finishing these preliminary pieces in her studio. Working expressively in acrylics or oils, with a palette knife and other mark making techniques, she works layer upon layer until the painting reaches a natural conclusion forming paintings that lie somewhere between abstraction and realism. “Painting is a response to the beautiful landscape around me, the experience of being in the place is as much an important part of the process as drawing. I attempt to capture the spirit of the land and that quiet sense of tranquillity that coexists with a closeness to the natural world. I am moved by dramatic light sweeping over the rugged elements chased by clouds and the timeless changing sea when visiting the coast. I have a passion for expressing nature in bright vivid colours and nothing gives me more pleasure than when people say they love their painting.” Amanda exhibits widely and her paintings have found homes with private collectors in the UK, America, Asia and Europe. She is represented by several galleries in the UK.
