About The Artwork

Leonardo Divinci's "The Last Supper" inspired this piece from the onset. I generally don't have containers when I begin a piece but this container in particular took my artwork to levels I never imagined. Look closely, stories are told beyond the last supper and through the resurrection.

Eric Demski Eric Demski (°1970, Fort Mill, United States) creates mixed media artworks, paintings, photos, digital media, and drawings. By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, Demski wants to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and alienation. His vibrant colored mixed media artworks directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. He interweaves myths and universal stories lying dormant in our subconscious, and often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. With a conceptual method, he approaches a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered style that involves the viewer physically, spiritually, and emotionally. He takes us on a darker, more truthful journey, unafraid to explore haunting thoughts and concepts combined with dangling remnants of hope and light. His works are dreamlike with a stained glass appearance in which fiction and reality meet; well-known tropes merge; meanings shift, and past and present fuse. Time and memory always play a key role. By applying abstraction, intensely personal moments are masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles. His works intentionally avoid recognizable forms. When deconstructed and viewed repeatedly, meaning shifts and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.
