VAN GOGH MUSEUM Amsterdam featuring this painting in this year, in 2015, in a video instalation placed in the central hall, as a new design element of the museum. The video installation would like to show that Van Gogh has had a major impact on many modern and contemporary artists, and that he still inspires to this days. Lot of thanks to Sarah Sprenger to including my work in this show! To see more sketches visit here please: http://jotto-szatmari.blogspot.com/

Born in Transylvania, I graduated the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca in 1997. As I was attracted by new art forms, techniques, I started to work in 2D animation cartoons and movies, and I made some comics too. From 2010 I'm working as an illustrator and concept artist in entertainment, movie and video game industry. I made my first solo exhibition in 1995, when I was 22, since then I made a series of solo, and I was part of many group exibition too. My works and illustrations are featured in several art editions, books, board games and music album covers. .In 2014 I was the winner of the platinum award in digital illustration, at international contest '2014 CA it Awards' organised in New York. In 2015 one of my paintings titled The potato eaters after Van Gogh was selected, and displayed in the hall of Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam on a video instalation of three big screens for the whole year of 2015, in a group of artists, who were inspired by the great Van Gogh. Last 10 years I was sucked in movie and video game industry, but this year I started to work again in traditional mediums too. As a new beginning I started to work on a series of improvisations after The Last Judgment of the great Michelangelo, who is one I always admired. God bless and enjoy my works! J.Otto Szatmari
