The River Ice Opens Painting

This painting is done on fine linen; it is not framed. A framer can lay it onto museum board instead of stretching it. I prefer to paint flat on a work table rather than using an easel. Seasonal changes are important to amy work. In this painting, the long winter approaches its end, as the ice cracks and begins the melt. The forms and shoes of late winter inform this painting. The composition, with the river moving far up the canvas signifies the journey through time.
