The Scholar Painting

The art space I am exploring is the use of the subject as a vehicle for giving the viewer an emotional response. Perhaps in that way my work can be considered in the vein of expressionism. The easiest way for people to understand each other is through body language, which is why the nude form is one of the focuses in my work. I use backgrounds or clothing if it furthers the intent of my work. I work heavily in gouache and watercolor, though I may work with other mediums such as oil. Ultimately, I feel I did my job if even one of my works gives you a feeling to take with you in life.
