About The Artwork
This painting is part of my Series of Our Act, which consists of my global, politically critical, and socially critical artworks. The montage-like theme is a commentary on the relationship between the humility of Jesus and the Catholic Church's ostentatious display of wealth and power. The contrast between the simplicity of the cave and the ornate interior of St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest highlights this shift in values. The shroud is a powerful symbol of death and resurrection, and in this context, it serves as a reminder that the true message of Jesus is often lost in the trappings of religion. I use contrasting scenes for adds depth and complexity to the painting and invite the viewer to reflect on the themes I'm exploring. The purpose of my painting is to make you think about the state of religion and spirituality in our modern world. Remind us that we should focus on the core values of humility, compassion, and love rather than the superficial trappings of religion. In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. Due to the OSB board, these works of art are very stable but heavy. This is recycled art. The painting is made with self-made paint, which consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints. The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own. The encaustic is equipped with a simple wooden exhibition frame, which harmonizes with the industrial style of the painting and highlights it well. Ready to hang! This work will be delivered with Care Instructions for my encaustic paintings and a signed certificate of authenticity.

„I show the details instead of the whole, sort of inviting the viewer to embrace and understand their surroundings” Dora Stork was selected artist in the London Art Biennale in 2023, an award-winning Hungarian painter whose art has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Hungary, and Romania. Her work can also be found in many private collections in the United States, the European Union, and Japan. Dora is an abstract realistic encaustic artist: abstract in the world of color, realistic in the world of form, and symbolist in meaning. As a politically minded painter, she is interested in public life as well as social and economic processes. She presents her particular vision in these works. The dreamlike compositions are her intuitive reflections on public issues. At the same time, seemingly astonishing, strange circumstances and inappropriate details on a rational sphere might evoke questions in the viewer. She mainly uses pure wax and pigments to make her paintings. Over the years, she has developed a medium that does not contain oil or any non-waxy additives. When she occasionally paints with acrylic, the characteristics of her figurative style transform into an imaginary interpretation of nature. Dora is an active, awarded member of her community and regularly takes part in their group exhibitions every year.
