About The Artwork

To understand the works of David Manetti, one must take into account that the apparent figurative structure of the landscape actually leads towards neutral and indefinite tones of the sky and its horizon, of the dissimulation of form. Image that goes beyond the classic depiction of the landscape, where the author questions the meaning and mystery of life and death, through the universal language of pictorial art and the representation of beauty, which contributes and reminds us that art has has always had a mission to make people and society better. Dr. Pier Alessandro Fossati

David Manetti was born in Lucca on 02/16/1968. He graduated from the artistic high school of Lucca and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in 1990. He has participated in numerous personal and collective exhibitions from 1987 to today. “For me, painting means translating an emotion through the pictorial technique which must be sober and the color uniform, so as not to fall into the banality of landscape painting which prevents instinct from being represented. Capturing the sea or the land and sky is not easy, but intriguing, exploring the crack of the horizon, the infinity that transcends our understanding. Painting the flow of time, questioning existence, representing what cannot be seen, starting with form, ending with the unconscious. My painting expresses itself through dispossession, the skeleton of form, the substance of things, the nothingness stripped away by the human presence which is only witness to the greatness of nature". Some works are on permanent display at the Hotel “San Luca Palace” in Lucca, others are part of private collections in Scotland, Switzerland, Sweden, France, Canada and the United States of America. A permanent exhibition can be visited at the “L'arte” Gallery - Lucca. Professor Sandra Lucarelli, prof. spoke about David Manetti's work. Aldo Baiocchi, prof. Bruno Pollacci, the prof.
