The Take Over Painting

This piece was inspired by one of the darkest times in my life; I was having multiple seizures a day, every day, as well as seizures in my sleep; it left me feeling exhausted, and almost non-existent. One of the hardest things about having epilepsy is trying to explain what it feels like, and how deeply it affects your life. I always say that epilepsy has friends, and their names are: depression, anxiety, paranoia, sleep-deprivation, loneliness, and frustration. It feels as if I have lost control of my life, and my disorder has sunken it's teeth into every aspect of it--that it has taken the wheel and left me in the back seat without a seat belt. It is my hope that my viewers can find a way to relate to the feelings that come with having epilepsy, even if they don't have it themselves, and to show anyone that does have epilepsy that they are not alone, and that they are understood.
