About The Artwork

THE TRUE FACE OF GOD "A frog jumps in, splash!" This haiku, written by Matsuo Basho, suggests that the viewer finds themselves in the present moment, without reflections, in the Buddha state where there are no dualities and everything is unified in a constant flow, chaos and order simultaneous. When Arjuna went with his teacher and his ego almost dissolved upon seeing the form of the Supreme Personality of God, I believe he must have experienced the same, feeling the totality for an individual being is like throwing a drop of water into the sea. How do you find a drop of water in the ocean? That chaotic state is what inspires this painting. I once wondered if God exists, what would be his true face. In the Bible, it is described that not even the angels of higher levels have permission to see the face of the Supreme. What would happen then if a human being could glimpse even a fraction, open their third eye and see only the silhouette, only a second of the totality? They would probably only catch a glimpse of the chaos of totality, all moments happening at the same time and in all directions. Probably, the true face of God is, by approximation, the chaos of totality.

Carlos Jimenez finds his greatest source of inspiration in love and life. His observation of the lives that surround him, which transmit a spark to him, is the essential driving force that moves the artist to bring each work to fruition, using pieces of memories and his heart, sometimes broken, sometimes filled with unforgettable memories. His work is personal and very passionate, reflecting his sense of the search for a truth that may or may not exist. His philosophy is pragmatic, but with esoteric and passionate points of view about the meaning of life and the destiny of each person in the world. A little referenced to Albert Camus, Jimenez accepts the absurd and embraces it. To paraphrase Frédéric Beigbeder, he says, “My problem is that I don't believe in God, but I do believe in miracles.”
