"The Yellow Wall,” 18.5 x 27 inches, 2024. This painting is about water and its erosive effects on engineered environments. The image is based on a photograph that I took of a water-filled hole in a sidewalk in my neighborhood. This work was my first experiment with unconventional materials for textural effects: spray-on wall texture, drywall repair tape, and string. The canvas is unstretched: the thickness of the materials gives the work the look of a tapestry.
