About The Artwork

The best Russian draftsman - Portrait of the artist Anatoly Zverev – Cubism. This painting was painted specially for the "Anatoly Zverev Art Prize" held by AZ-museum (Moscow). The motto of the award is - life is constrained, art is free. I learned about this artist recently. Anatoly Zverev is a brilliant Russian avant-garde artist and graphic artist, a legend of the artistic life of Moscow in the 20th century. Pablo Picasso highly appreciated his work and called him “the best Russian draftsman”. But in his own country he was not recognized. He did not have an academic education, he studied everything himself. His teacher was Leonardo da Vinci. Like a magician, he sprayed paint on paper, and before our eyes, chaotic drops turned into a picturesque plot. He experimented a lot with technique and combined different artistic styles, and his works contradicted the existing canons. He could start drawing with a razor brush, continue with a knife, and finish with a shoe. In 1957, a competitive exhibition of the International Festival of Youth and Students was held in Moscow. The chairman of the jury, an outstanding muralist artist David Alfaro Siqueiros, awarded a gold medal to the 26-year-old artist Anatoly Zverev. But the history of this award is amazing. Zverev was not admitted to the competition from the very beginning, since he did not have a diploma. He worked as a painter at the Central House of Artists. During the competition, he entered the competition hall, spilled two buckets of paint on the floor, and with a mop, in several movements, smeared these two colors on the floor. It turned out to be an amazing female portrait. Siqueiros stopped the competition and announced the winner. But Soviet officials did not allow Zverev even after that to work. Despite this, Zverev immediately held exhibitions in France, Switzerland, USA, Germany, Austria, England, Denmark and other countries. After reading this amazing biography, I thought: how would I paint a portrait of Zverev Picasso? I tried to imagine myself as Picasso and painted this portrait. Everything in it is symbolic. The third eye is like the ability for a different perception of reality. The symbols of masculine and feminine, red and blue are a combination of active and creative, and receptive and soft. The legendary mop also found its place there. Sharp lines, vibrant colors. The picture is very stylish, attracts attention and gives a good mood. The picture is painted with acrylic on canvas. The ends are also painted over like the main background. Artwork мade on durable canvas. The canvas is stretched over a stretcher. Without a frame. Single. Original artwork. I pack works of art with care so that they arrive in perfect condition. Heavy duty, high density foam boards are used to cover the front, back and sides. The work is sent with a certificate of authenticity. You can also purchase prints of this picture on quality paper, framed, unframed or on canvas. Welcome to my page. My name is Olga Minina. I am a self-taught artist. I was born in 1973 and live in Russia. My profession - a lawyer, to which I have devoted many years, served as an impetus for me to express my ideas in paintings. One of the qualities of a real lawyer is inner freedom: freedom from conventions, other people's opinions, frameworks imposed by society, without which it is impossible to realize his main purpose - to defend the rights and freedoms of other people. Therefore, the main theme in my work is the theme of freedom. Freedom is the main value in this world. And I want to pass it on to others. The second topic that began to interest me as I grew creatively is the relationship between people and the psychology of personality, because my profession allowed me to study psychology well. In my opinion, images allow people to think more deeply about the meaning of the author's statement than words. I've always liked double meanings and non-obvious answers to simple questions. I am an artist with varied interests and talents. I am attracted by everything new and unknown. I write in oils, acrylics, dry and oil pastels, pencils, watercolors. I love mixed techniques. I take art very seriously and use it as a means of expressing my ideas about the modern world and emotions on canvas. In my opinion, images allow people to think more deeply about an author's statement than words. I have always liked double meanings and non-obvious answers to simple questions, I like to excite the minds of people, to encourage them to think. I am constantly learning: studying the history of art, acquiring new skills in painting. I participate in international exhibitions of contemporary art. And I'm not going to stop. I believe that I have sufficient potential to take my niche in contemporary art. An interesting fact is that there are a lot of lawyers among famous artists. Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Mikhail Vrubel and many others. And this is not casual. Scientists have found that people who can think creatively are intellectuals. It was not for nothing that Albert Einstein noted that "creativity is the entertainment of the intellect." Thank you for your attention to my work.
