About The Artwork

Avtozavodskaya Bridge is the most depressing Bridge in Moscow. One cold winter's evening crossing it I happened to turn to see the most unbelievable sunset across the old industrial site of the old abandoned car manufacturing industry. Caught between the racket of passing Metro trains it raised hope in a place full of despair. I had a strange premonition on this bridge. A few days later it came true and hit the news headlines. The sunset is almost burnt out like a sickle from the dragon's breath of the Metro signals similar to the game of thrones. It just underlines the brutality of the noise of the trains as they go hammering across the bridge. It's a harsh landscape and a lonely bridge to walk across. I take the bus now. This bridge is so depressing to walk across in winter with the biting freezing wind, you can imagine people throwing themselves off it on despair, but in summer it's glorious sunsets are a pleasure to behold. So this is a strange painting because what I experienced was a Summer's Sunset on a harsh overcast winter's evening, and it just warmed my heart and told me you can still get hope even if you're in the middle of a dismal landscape.

Kevin worked in Advertising for 35 years. He moved to Moscow in 2014 and started painting again. He wants to have an exhibition somewhere. He is open to offers to help him become a full time artist. He has recently had his work judged by a Russian Ministry Art Critic who says it is interesting and to professional standard. He senses that, but it's nice to hear it from someone else. Many people are now asking him to hold an exhibition. He does not know where or when. He wants to get some paintings behind him first. His work is owned by private collectors in London, Kent, Paris, Prague, New York, three Churches in the UK and this year New Zealand. He paints in Oils, Watercolours, Tempera, and draws in Charcoal and Crayon. He hopes you enjoy his work, and welcomes any comments or suggestions.
