The old lady & the old factory Painting

My professional training is based on observing and understanding the landscape of my native South America. In my new reality, a more dense and urban Germany, I remain fascinated by the many facets of inhabiting the landscape. Consequently, I am moving away from the contemporary technical orientation of my formal training in architecture, and striving for a romantic image, integrating the natural environment with modern urban and suburban landscapes, In developing a figurative image around a story, I`ve deemphasized, constructive lines in order to assimilate sensations through color, particularly with regard to shadows and foliage. Although there are always human characters, they often lack facial details, and are portrayed within natural contexts, such as walking under treetops, surrounded by flowers, reflected in a lake, or as farmers eternally a part of their landscape. Currently, I`m trying to reincorporate the architectural gaze through images of suburban neighborhoods, albeit recreated with new colors and situations, including “social distance”. For example, the house is the representation of a suburban house in Santiago de Chile, inhabited by an old woman, who, perhaps, lives alone with her dog, and who might be practicing isolation in her own solitary ways. The new theme I`m trying to develop concerns our relationship with those who inhabit these residential neighborhoods of independent and semi-detached houses, and commercial neighborhoods of buildings and industry. My goal is to use paint to investigate who these inhabitants are, and how they inhabit their contemporary urban landscapes. Painting as a gesture of brush and color is a complex form of personal expression. Through my game of layers, brush strokes and nuances of color. I`m playing with a reality that I am recreating in my own personal vision of my new German environment.
