About The Artwork

All my life I have been mathematically dyslexic, yet I am drawn to the beauty of mathematics and equations, even if I do not begin to understand them. I decided to paint a canvas using one stroke lettering in the same way that a scientist or physicist might whilst he explains a theory on a blackboard. Nothing was planned, I just painted from the centre of the prepared canvas and worked my way out until I felt it was time to stop and the painting was completed. The numbers and symbols are totally meaningless of course, but as far as I am concerned so is the Higgs Boson theory.

I was born and raised in Chiswick, I live and work from my studio in the small village Swainsthorpe, in the beautiful countryside just outside of Norwich, Norfolk in the UK. I have been painting and drawing all my life, although it was only in 2008 that I began to paint full time after gradually winding down my graphic design consultancy that I ran with my wife, Pauline. I paint a wide variety of subjects. My love of London, Aviation, Automobiles and Space have been an active subject in my work, particularly the latter where I have begun to explore Abstraction. The complexity of Mathematics and Equations, although maybe not understanding them does not mean I can't explore their beauty with paint. The wonders of the Universe and Astro-physics fascinate and as man explores those wonders so do I in my capacity as an artist. My work has been exhibited at Galleries in Cornwall, Noffolk, Suffolk, Cambridge and London, as well as two one man shows in Norwich.
