About The Artwork

I live my art, I breathe art, I can't imagine a single day without my art and there is simply nothing else that can keep me in balance and give me joy in life. I was born this way and I can't help it. Our world is not always friendly and following one's destiny was certainly not only for me a miserable struggle. On top of that, I am gay. Raised in a small village outside the city. Oh my God, two no-go's in a conservative family living within a quite rural neighborhood. Guess, there is no yellow brick road, even in the hardest of struggle. BUT I have learned through life, to trust in the kindness of people! When times were the darkest, people who carry the light are always close to you. The light is there. Trust in yourself, trust your intuition. Created during the first lockdown and presented at the Free Space Gallery. A temporary art project where the abandoned shop windows were used to present the art and the numerous visitors from the street side could explore the works behind the glass. This polytonal artwork could be considered a key piece of my development of polytonal art within my portfolio. This original, delicately textured and sensitive sculptural work is ready to hang. A hanger is mounted on the back and this unique artwork can be hung just like any other painting. If you need more information on how to hang polytonal art, or if you are unsure how to place such a very unique concept installation at your gallery wall, kindly contact me. The collective consciousness is present to foster creativity in order to overcome the limits and restraints build by injustice and unfair social conditions. ‍ The pursuit of truth in freedom, for freedom's sake - I lost, but was not defeated, grew stronger, became more aware, became more grateful. I won, but I am not a winner.“ Jacob Von Sternberg, JVS“ One result of Jacob’s artistic research and his unique concept - Polytonal Art: Through the breaking of old time worn boards, which are marked by time, Jacob creates uncontrollable forms and edges. Violence is transformed into beauty. The tips of the edges appear like scars of the past, which are seamlessly integrated by Jacob into the narration. With the completion of the work, the past trauma is finally transformed into loving energy and the horrors of the past are released and no longer burden the soul. Jacob's polytonal paintings have a sculptural character. Multiple levels of information result from the inclusion of the broken edges of the wood in the overall composition. With appropriate illumination, a further level is added by the deliberately staged play of the resulting shadows.

What remains is the love and kindness in my heart, which I cherish like a treasure. Whatever happens in life, the beat of our hearts decides the path. The essence of unity is reflected in my art. I travelled the world in search of my family and eventually achieved the healing of generations through my relentless search and longing to reunite my family on two continents. By nature I am actually rather shy and very sensitive. I love to support others. Love to speak about unity, about love, and all the wonders I witnessed on my journey around the world. I am grateful you are interested in my work. Art is my life. My work features small, medium, large and also extra large scale paintings on a very wide variety of surfaces. I use canvas, paper, wood, and several nonconventional surfaces such as time worn wood, vintage papers, and antique textiles, and metal findings that I have collected over the years during my travels. I often paint with tools that I have developed myself or use unconventional ones. At times I refuse to use brushes and painter's knives and use only things from everyday life in an adapted form to create my art. My sculptural works feature beach wood, textile surfaces in combination with colored resin, and a selection of antique findings.
