They'll never believe me Painting

My painting is inspired by a scene from Till The Clouds Roll By (1946) in which the title character is partaking in the ritual of courtship. I am fascinated by movie musicals of the 1940's for their escapist qualities. I am also interested in the fantastically unusual lighting and color present in these technicolor pictures. My painting replicates the laisez-faire scene of a couple drifting down stream teaming with swans. A very romantic and idealized scenario. I mimic the overexposure of the shot. Faces are blown out by the camera light and their bodies are static like they are equally alive as the stage set behind them.
