Thought Control Op. 5 Painting

In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it. - Ernst Fischer I have recently started my Thought Control series on how mainstream media and powerful States collaborate with each other to distort the actual discourse and blanket the perception of general public with false rhetoric to pursue an unjust cause. Though there are large amount of information on the internet, un-biased or semi-biased radio and television channels and some really good independent programmes and journalists, the vast majority of the people are prone to big corporate media channels. These mainstream media have lost its function as a provider of true information but instead have devolved into a tool of controlling the thought of the masses by few selective people and States, well, manufacturing consent in Noam Chomsky’s words. It is unbelievable how powerful governments can get away with war crimes and other crimes of different sorts and the public at large are led to believe the cause was just and the action justified. Thus, knowingly and unknowingly, we the societies play a part in a role that we ourselves believe that we should fight against at all cost, i.e. invasion of another state on a pretence, unlawful persecution of a person or a group of people, denying democratic due process, unconstitutional and illegal spying on allies and innocent citizens, to name a few.
