About The Artwork

This painting was created by expensive acrylic paints of Italian production (luxury category). This painting was awarded 2 prize at the International Competition «4 UKRAINIAN ART WEEK» (Kiev, 2011). This painting was printed in a catalog "New faces in arts" - World Fund of Arts, Berlin, 2011-2012, 708 pages (See page # 275). Also in this painting, I used my own technique to create the effect of a moist surface of the mucous membrane of the eye. For this technique, I cover the desired surface with at least 13 layers of liquid varnish and use vintage brushes made of natural fur Mustela sibirica (modern brushes from Mustela sibirica for some reason do not have the qualities I need). After applying 13 layers of varnish, such a brush becomes unusable (we can say that varnish kills it). And since my supply of vintage brushes is limited and not replenished, this technique is very expensive. But I believe that the resulting effect is worth it. This painting reflects an ancient feminist myth: a woman always flies, but it depends only on the man whether she will fly on angel wings or on a broom. This painting is exhibited along with the text of the author’s comment. The text of the author’s comment is as follows: "Mavka - is a character of Slavic mythology, the mermaid of forest. In this painting displayed the most ancient (pre-Christian) version of the appearance of Mavka, according to which the forest mermaid became the soul of seduced virgins, which did not take a wife. Engage in sexual relations before marriage, they brought the shame and anger of the gods in the whole village, so they were banished from civilization in the wild forest, where they are likely to have died from starvation or predators. After this death, their souls became Mavka, luring men into the forest thicket, and there in retaliation to take their lives and souls. Thus, the Slavic myth of Mavka originally wore a feminist subtext, based on law practices. Helgana intentionally modernize the image of the abandoned women, giving her dyed hair, excessive makeup and jewelry in the style diva R & B, but the facial expression of the central figure shows that it is also unhappy, as well as its ancient predecessor. The whole painting like a tissue of the archetypal female characters of Destiny, and its composition solution brings us to the image Threelick Hecate. This way Helgana makes understandably for women around the world the Slavic regional myth".

Only PRINTS are presented here. I am a painter, and actress (I specialize in the characters of aristocrats in historical and fantasy movies), and a singer, and environmental activist, and body positive icon from Kyiv. I have poor health, so I often sit by the window and watch the lives of others. Not surprisingly, I'm also a philosopher :-) I have lived in different countries, but returned to Ukraine before the war. In that country even before the war live was difficult and dangerous, so it is very interesting. In Ukraine, even the very survival depends on the kind of food you buy for dinner. And in wartime, you just have to survive and eat not every day. So here I feel alive - it inspires creativity. My paintings is contain in one museum in Kyiv and many private collections in Europe (including EU). My name is Helgána Shyshkina-Rybalskaya (I am also known as Tiny Lady Helgána). As of 2024, I have already received a special prize from the jury of the prestigious International Luxembourg Art Prize “For High Quality Art” 4 times. By the way, my medium term work on the painting is 9 months. I have the best job in the world: I can recreate the lost beauty of our planet that is destroyed, and can create New Worlds. In the twentieth century, people have seen a lot of grief, we learned a lot of trouble. So in the twenty-first century, I try to give them their creativity only positive emotions. A bit of biography: From the very childhood I wanted to become the artist only. I was draw when it is only possible, I was draw at all, what is only possible, I was draw as often as possible. When I began to painting on furniture, parents tired to fight with this talent and decided to send me to study art. So in the 4 years old I first went to vocational training to painting to the private teacher. Then newspapers started writing about me as about the child prodigy from Kyiv. Over the years, I began to have other hobbies: I was a member of the girl's synchronized swimming team, I graduated from music school, I graduated from acting school, at 15 I organized the rock band "Shadows of Mirkwood", where I was a front girl and the author, and my stage name was Elven Queen Gaenelos... But painting has always been my main love. https://www.instagram.com/helgana_art/ https://www.youtube.com/@helgana_creates_art_3690 https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/helgana-shyshkina-rybalskaya-9439 www.helgana.wix.
