About The Artwork
My artwork focuses on my own fears and personal experiences. I grew up in and around the area of Cumbernauld which is where I found my love/hate relationship with brutalist architecture. I experienced hospital trips when I was younger which have since developed my phobic obsession with medical practice. I find that projecting these fears in my work has really given me a personal connection to the paintings and shares with the viewer an insight into my mental apprehension.

Calum Stevenson (b. 1997, Falkirk, Scotland) graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Arts from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2019. Stevenson went on to graduate from Glasgow School of Art with a MA in Fine Art Practice in 2020. At the 2019 DJCAD Degree Show, Stevenson was awarded The Sandra McNeilance Prize for Drawing & Painting. Recent exhibitions include Heinzel Gallery, Aberdeen in 2019 & 2020.
