This piece is part of a collection, COUNTERCULTURE, I created during my artist residency last summer at Soma Vida in Austin, Texas. This collection features 8 women that didn't obey the rules. This particular woman was one of the first "tattooed women" to travel with circus sideshows-- performing is how she generated income for her family.
