About The Artwork
11x 8 Oval Acrylic on Canvas of the French General Toussaint L'Overture. The painting was specifically created to fit its 19th century plaster gold leaf frame. L'Ouverture was best known as the leader of the 1791 Haitian Revolution. He first fought for the Spanish against the French, then for France against Spain and Great Britain. L'Ouverture served as President of Haiti (1801-1802) as well as Governor -General of Saint - Domingue.
