Towpath Painting

The artist, Robin Ballard, is inspired by nature as she walks through forests, along waterways and into marshlands. Towpath was painted after she walked a canal just off from the Wiese River, which runs from southern Germany and empties into the Rhein. Stinging nettles grew along the towpath and the water was very still. Instead of using conventional colors for the scene, the artist decided to use orange for the water and white and a metallic pink for the grasses, and yellow for the sky reflected in the water The scene depicted is calming and yet cheerful. This painting is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
