About The Artwork

My interpretation of the transit of Saint Joseph in which I represent: Jesus, Mary, and Saint Joseph in the moment before death. In the central part, lies Saint Joseph dying in bed, supported with the arm of Jesus on the left, and Holy Mary. on the right clutching her shawl to her chest. In the upper part I depicted the gates of paradise with clouds filling the environment surrounded by angels and cherubs, in which in the center there is a dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit. Each Angel represented carries out a task, the Cherubs flatten the clouds to let the dove (Holy Spirit) pass through, the one in the center offers the halo to Saint Joseph, and indicates with a serious look what the little angel must do with Saint Joseph's staff. Joseph, at the top right an angel emerging from a cloud reproaches the little angel represented at the bottom left, who has improvised as a carpenter, forgetting the task entrusted to him, that of collecting the carpentry equipment and taking it to heaven . The atmosphere of the painting is sad, but I wanted to alleviate this sadness with the sympathy of the "carpenter" angel who is building, in his own way, a stool. I started painting around mid-December 2022 to finish in February 2023, I consider this painting to be the first work of 2023.

Cristian Miceli is an Italian painter, draughtsman and portraitist who lives in Sicily, in Agira in the province of Enna. The passion for Art was born as a child while looking at the works of the great Italian masters in books, with the aim of becoming, one day, like them. He attended the Liceo Artistico Luigi e Mariano Cascio in Enna, there he perfected his skill in drawing and portraiture, maturing a realistic perception of drawing and painting, thus adopting realism as his main style. In the middle of the course he was fascinated by the processing and carving of wood, he decided to follow the course in 'Wood and Furniture Design' of which he graduated in 2020, in order to be able to work as an Interior Designer. He does not abandon, at all, his passion for painting, indeed, from the beginning of 2023 he becomes professional. His subjects range from portraits to still lifes, bodies and landscapes.
