I have drawn inspiration from Vedic principals of the physical (Prakriti) and the metaphysical (Purush). The tree of Life (Kalpavriksh), depicts a divine tree that guides and sustains our lives in this samsara. The leaves and branches spread out their arms, protecting and revealing in equal measures to all within. It is the bestower of Nourishment, Knowledge, Music, Prosperity, Courage and Righteousness, overseen by the four goddess Saraswati, Laxmi, Durga and Parvati. It symbolizes connectivity through your roots, soaring aspirations of the branches, growth, strength and regeneration, resilience to the elements and eventual immortality. Like the tree one can grow stronger over time and strive for greater knowledge and experiences and eventually attain Moksh (nirvana) as achieved by Buddha. The painting is extremely intricate with great attention to detail. The overall effect is one of calmness and serene beauty that permeates our mind and body and in Picasso's words washes away from the soul the dust of every day life.

I am an Ophthalmologist, working in the NHS for the past 25 years. I have always been drawn to the ancient arts and architecture that resonate emotions and a joyous expression of imagination. I seek to explore the principles of Arth (meaning), Kama (desire), Dharma (virtue) and Moksha (liberation) through my art. For me art has a connection with the mysteries of the ancient world, a bridge between the old and new. My art is an amalgam of ancient culture, folkloric themes and tribal traditions, the use of natural materials, colours and dyes interwoven with myths and legends to create an illusion of the ethereal and immortal. I try to capture the strong forms of the masculine and feminine, the Physical and metaphysical, the Prakriti and purush. Bold strokes interlaced with intricate details, building texture and emphasis and a free flow of thought to create order and harmony on a blank canvas. It is an expression of my emotions and individuality and a path to an internal journey ,we all need to make at some stage in life.
