In his youth he was fascinated by looking at stones and walking in the mountains. At the end of his examination for the HBKU (University of the Arts Utrecht) he made a lot of paintings about rocks and forms inspired by nature. He works in Amsterdam at the school of secondary education as a teacher of arts. His studio is in the east part of Amsterdam, where he makes the oilpaintings on canvas. In 1999 he made a trip through the Indian Country in the USA and travelled in New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Colorado. He was especially inspired by the Anazasi Indians.
