Helena Hanck is born in Valencia, of Spanish mother and Belgian father. She passes her childhood and adolescence in Africa. At 21, she goes to Madrid, place in which she fixes her residence since then. The painting is for her an intimate activity. She realizes projects of internal architecture and she designs objects. Five years ago she becomes aware that a new stage has stated for her, and she returns to the painting and the sculpture with a renewed impulse, an impulse born from the confrontation of two cultures to which she belongs since she has drunk the same quantity of each.

I believe that all my life I have been obsessed by the objects and their arrangement. Perhaps it comes from my childhood passed in Africa, far away from mass media and manufactured toys, during which I coexisted with objects, and fragments of objects. During the time spent in Africa, I had the feeling that I was united to the surrounding objects in a relationship based on the magic as far as a young girl can understand. I remember when, in the multitude of inert objects that could be seen in the ground, suddenly I discovered a special one, that by its magic qualities was ordering all the others removing them from the anonymity. Today I continue feeling good projecting myself in assembling little pieces of objects with own light scattered, at the beginning strangers to each other, and after, forming new bodies, being materialized in the space they occupy as machines with a specialized mission; small and fragile machines that create a polarity in the plane, a tension in the lax. The same attitude, through an exercise of introspective abstraction, leads me to a kind of realism that defines my internal space. The title of my paintings is often Internal being, but could also be Magma, Magma, Genesis place, magma where the experiences bathe as accidents, from where my internal beings map is constantly generated and regenerated, a map permanently remodelled and far away from visible emotions.
