Tunes of Variation Painting

I love the sea and was inspired by the change of light and temperature in the ocean surrounding New Zealand. I enjoy watching the colors change dramatically from sunrise to sunset and throughout the seasons. With the current coming from South pole, our seas could be quite cold even in the summer time. I use a variation of colors, tonal intensity as well as textures to capture the change of the sea and all its forms - swirls, currents, waves. I want to show that it has that calmness as well as the movement. The watercolour and gouache allow me to play around the intensity of light and mimic the transparency of the sea. The special water based Gesso with molding mixture were thrown on the Canvas to create water bubble and wave like texture. It has made a relief sculpture feel on it. I enjoy working in abstract and surreal style. My inspiration comes from music, dance and the nature around me. It was a really enjoyable process to capture my feelings towards the sea, as well as the light and texture of it all in this painting. I want the viewer to be able to see the movement of the sea and feel that they are just in front of it! This artwork is designed so it can be hanged in different directions, horizontally or vertically.
