About The Artwork

Flowers have frequently been understood as signs of a larger reality. Generally, the life and death cycle of plants is primarily a sign of the transitory nature of life; the blossoming and withering of flowers illustrate particularly the swift passage of beauty. I grew up with flowers on the table. My mom’s table and my grandma’s table were always adorned by flowers. Every week I buy myself flowers to honor myself and my family. In doing so flowers on my dining room table become a metaphor of how we shape our most intimate lives. The flowers, or the vessel stand as a symbol of the homemaker, the maintenance keeper and the act of putting flowers in a vase transforms into our tapestry of life. Detroit, 2020
