About The Artwork

This piece is currently a part of the City of Austin's 2020 People's Gallery Exhibition in Austin City Hall. It was created from a discarded concrete panel commonly used for residential home siding. It underwent several power-sanding sessions before the surface was ready for multiple coats of gesso. After applying the acrylic wash, graphite freeform and remaining color layers, the unfinished 2 1/2" border was masked off and hand-rubbed with graphite. Finally, two pairs of stainless steel carriage bolts were painted and installed as the finishing touch. This panel is unframed ready-to-hang with pre-installed hardware and has a stainless steel bolt at each corner of the unpainted 2" border which not only lends an industrial/architectural look, but also doubles as the mounting hardware. Each bolt end is capped with a rubber end cap which acts as a barrier between the bolt and your wall.

I am a self-discovering artist who enjoys the complete freedom of creating visual art. Originally from Philadelphia, PA., I have resided in Texas for the last 28 years. As a child, I was inspired by comic books and movies. I began using art as a way to express my own imaginative visions and ideas. It wasn't until high school that an attentive art instructor catalyzed my evolution as a young artist. I gained a greater appreciation for both art and art history. More importantly, I was no longer limited to the ubiquitous Bic pens, no.2 pencils and notebook paper. Today, I work with everything from oils and acrylics, to watercolor and pastels. The fact remains, that I am still most confident when using a pencil or pen. This is evident in much of my recent work, where I meticulously blend graphite and ink with other mediums
