About The Artwork
The inspiration for this painting came to artist Joaquin De Mondo during a walk along Berlin's Wannsee lake at sunset on an early Sunday evening in August 2019. Joaquin came from the vernissage of an artist friend and wanted to walk home. As he began to feel a little tired, he decided to sit down on the shore to rest for a while before continuing on his way home. The temperature was pleasant, not too cool but not too warm either. It felt good. As he sat down, he saw the sun begin to set. Suddenly the sky turned a lovely pink and the trees on the shore and their reflections in the water turned a wonderful turquoise, which can only rarely be found in nature. Then Joaquin noticed two doves playing with each other on the lovely lake. Joaquin was watching the two doves and saw how they suddenly began to dance in the air together. It seemed somehow surreal and at the same time very peacefully. At that moment, Joaquin felt a deep, indescribable connection with nature. It was beautiful and cannot be described in human words. Some time later, the two pigeons disappeared and the sun began to hide more and more behind the horizon. Joaquin was still fascinated by this natural spectacle. As it was getting cooler, he decided to continue on his way home, full of energy. Inspired by this intense natural spectacle, he sketched what he had seen that very night in his studio. Almost exactly a year later, he immortalized this experience on canvas and gave the painting its title: " TWO DANCING DOVES: Harmonic Nature Play "
